With a call of about 30 students from our university the godparents inducing activity for the second half of 2016 was performed.
Last Thursday, June 8th the induction activity for godparents for the second semester 2016 incoming mobility was carried out with the participation of about 30 students selected from all the faculties of our university to fulfill this task.
Within the framework of induction, future godparents were instructed by the person in charge of student mobility UFRO, Ms. Antonia Espinoza, about their duties and commitments to their godchildren. She mentioned how important is to assist and accompany foreign students during necessary paperwork as well as recreational activities, besides being constantly present and provide emotional support when needed. The activity included the participation of former godfathers and godmothers, who told about their experience:
“I joined as a godmother last year by a friend of psychology that had been a godmother several semesters and convinced me to do it. She told me everything about it, the good experience it was, and the interesting people she got to know, so I said: I’ll try. The truth is that it was an amazing experience and I had a great time, I met amazing people and made very good friends with whom I am still in touch”
– Olivia Marin, Psychology, Second semester as a godmother.
During the activity, godparents signed an agreement to formalize their participation in the program and received the schedule for the welcome week for foreign students that includes an official ceremony and welcome activities, as well as tours around the university and Temuco, among others.
“I hope to meet a lot of people, learn about new cultures and help as much as I can, I think it’s a nice experience”
– Rodrigo Ruiz, Construction Engineering, First semester as a godfather.
The official welcome for incoming mobility students will be held on June 26 and godparents are already expectantly upon their arrival.
